My Project

10km's - 10 Runs - 10 Cities

Having learnt that Alex loved all kinds of sports including skiing, tennis and undertaking the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, I wanted to incorporate an active, physical challenge element into my project. I have a passion for running and so to combine this with travelling I came up with the idea to run Ten 10 Km's in 10 Spanish cities. I feel the perfect way to sum it up would be with the motto from this year's Barcelona marathon: 'Run the World!'

I have always believed running to be one of the best ways to explore new destinations as you really can go off the beaten tourist track. To date I have completed the Edinburgh half marathon twice and the Barcelona Marathon and I can say with certainty that the running community- wherever you are in the world - is one that fully embodies the spirit of a city and is a really special way to meet local people and immerse oneself in the culture.

I have selected the cities I most want to see in Spain and have printed up t-shirts to run in when out there! I will use Mapmyrun.com to plan out each route and capture these with my GPS running watch when completing them. I will create a blog post for each destination with insights into running and all things travel related - local culture, food and historical sights!
