La Playa de las Catedrales

Stop along the way...

On our journey from A Coruña to Ribadeo we did a quick one night stop off in Santiago de Compostela, famous for its impressive cathedral which marks the end of el Camino de Santiago. It was a lovely city with a buzzing atmosphere of groups of people having finished their walk/bike trips across northern Spain.

We then reached our destination, Ribadeo, which was mainly chosen because it was close to La Playa de las Catedrales, a beach with spectacular rock formations that are revealed at low tide. We were staying in an air b&b nearby in the middle of nowhere and weren't expecting anything special but it turned out to be fantastic mini bungalows, beautifully built with beach themed decoration and a shared pool - plus resident pet dog Arturo and flamingo! Would highly recommend if ever looking for accommodation that way (Villas las Catedrales). We had access to bikes so rode back to the beach in the evening when it was low tide and returned for a third time on the run the following morning!

The Run:

Getting quicker! Despite non-stop exploring, walking and biking I somehow managed to pick up the pace again, doing the 10k in the quickest time so far on the trip (thanks dad!). The views were a mix of countryside farm yards, campsites, coastline and cliffs - it was a nice change from the other runs, like I have said before they have all been totally unique.
