'I want to run the beach's length, because it never ends'

I completed the first 10k this morning and am lucky enough to have a best friend who is as mad as I am and got up at 7am to join me! I have known Freya for fourteen years but living so far away from each other means we don't get to spend half as much time together as we wish we could, so having her out here to share the first week of my trip is AMAZING!

We flew into Seville and did a whistle stop tour of the main sights - this city should be on everyones bucket list - it is absolutely stunning, especially Plaza de España and the cathedral. We then woke up early the next day to catch various buses to get to Estepona. Although it was a very long journey, it means the town is slightly off the beaten tourist track. It is a quaint, unspoilt Spanish seaside resort with tiny winding back streets lined with flowers of all colours imaginable and café's on every corner. It has been lovely to wander around, spend time browsing in the little shops and we even discovered a fantastic 'Orchidarium' right in the centre. The big glass outer dome encased a variety of plants, flowers and an impressive waterfall. It is definitely another town I would add to the must-see list!

The run:

The route we took for our 10k was a runners dream. The promenade had the town on one side and the beach on the other with flowers, palm trees and rock wall features immaculately kept. The temperature was spot on with a cool breeze but the sun was still shining brightly on a backdrop of perfectly blue skies. We got lucky with the route as we ran from our hotel and just when we reached the end of the path it was 5k, so we turned around and headed back! It was a slow run overall but easing into it - looking forward to number 2 in Cadiz...
